Well, we finally made it – we’ve completed our 1999 playlist and have wrapped up the last year of the decade. It’s been a lot of fun putting these together and I hope you’ve equally enjoyed them. It’s fantastic to see that a lot of these playlists are gaining a lot of followers. Our first playlist in the series, for example, has amassed nearly 30 followers. A modest number but I was pleased to find that some people out there still got love for the golden age of hip-hop! Continue reading

Oof.

I had almost forgotten how crazy a year 1996 actually was for hip-hop. So many tracks kept coming to mind when creating this one, and personally, this playlist may be my favourite thus far. A ton of head nodders and a whole bunch of incredible music came out this year. 1996 also holds the distinction as being the last year prior to the grip of the “shiny-suit” era of rap.

Crate Diggers: DJ Tony Touch

tonytouch

It has been a long three weeks since the last episode ofĀ Crate Diggers.

Frankly, I am always pleased when the series is focused upon people associated with rap.

They just always seem to have the better record collections.

Tony TouchĀ (@DJTONYTOUCH) estimates his own stockpile is comprised of about 15,000 pieces of wax.
Damn.

I referenced his latest release, PieceMaker3: Return of the 50 MC’s, in this blog post after he leaked some new Eminem (@Eminem) a couple months back on his ownĀ Shade 45 radio show.

Tony is a legend in this rap shit.

After you watch this episode, be sure to check out the 50 exclusive webisodes he shared from his personal vaults in the leadup to his latest LP.

Most of it is must-see material that can’t be found anywhere else.

Enjoy.

New Eminem: “Symphony in H”

50MCs

DJĀ Tony Touch just dropped a snippet of some brand-new @Eminem as part of his PieceMaker3: Return of the 50 MC’s series.

Sounds like vintage Shady to me.

What you think?

* Touch has also been releasing some rareĀ YouTube jewels in the lead-up to this album release (check out the webisodes in the “Recent Uploads” section).
