Fantasy Premier League: Week 14 Player Picks

Life has gotten in the way of things a bit here at the PRISM.

Apologies to all readers for missing Week 13 in its entirety.

Just to update, I made some slight gains in each fantasy format and here is where I sat prior to the commencement of these midweek fixtures:

Overall Points: 732
Global: 257,216 (Last week: 276,584)
Fans of Arsenal: 13,500 (Last week: 14,157)
Canada: 2,239 (Last week: 2,366)

Total Points: 1493
Global: 2,799 (Last week: 4,377)
Fans of Arsenal: 664 (Last week: 1,017)

Oh, and in case you missed Aaron Ramsey‘s (@aaronramsey) return to Cardiff City Stadium, this happened:

“the Ayatollah”

Class goals from a class player in front of a class crowd.

Arsenal (@Arsenal) remain four points clear at the top which hopes to provide a bit of a cushion as we close out the year with a torrid set of fixtures:

Dec. 4 vs. Hull (@hullfcofficial)
Dec. 8 vs. Everton (@Everton)
Dec. 11 @ Napoli (@sscnapoli)
Dec. 14 @ Manchester City (@MCFC)
Dec. 23 vs. Chelsea (@chelseafc)
Dec. 26 @ West Ham (@whufc_official)
Dec. 29 @ Newcastle (@NUFCOfficial)

It’ll be a tough stretch but..

.. nothing that a group of guys this sharp can’t handle, am I right?

I have been struggling with making the correct captain’s pick for the past few weeks.

I really blew it last week by overlooking Rooney (@WayneRooney) for the armband, as doubling his brace would have taken me from good to great.

Same goes for the week previous when I failed to captain Agüero (@aguerosergiokun).

I struggled just as mightily this time around and in the end, chose to captain Giroud (@_OlivierGiroud_) in the official game (despite a very real rotation risk) and Suárez (@luis16suarez) in the Yahoo! format (because Norwich have the 4th worst goal differential in the league and are 2nd in most goals allowed).

Crystal Palace (@Official_CPFC) played host to West Ham yesterday to kick off the midweek fixtures and the-Man-with-the-Weirdest-Hair-in-Association-Football, Mr. Marouane Chamakh, put away the only marker of the match.

I thought Ravel Morrison would be a shrewd differential pick this week given his recent form in combination with the struggles of the Eagles.

But he was booked at the end of the match for losing his cool and was lucky to escape the red:

Either way, that gives him his fifth yellow so he will be suspended for Saturday’s match versus Liverpool (@LFC) which basically means I’ve wasted another transfer.

Nevertheless, I’m feeling pretty confident in my squads on the whole for this gameweek and am hoping they continue to trend upward as we come to the end of the 2013 calendar.

What Do Your XIs Look Like for Gameweek 14???
